The Soul Way Vs. The System:  Remembering What Healing Really Means

By:  Jennifer Lisa Way | Soul Way Frequencies

When Pain Is A Messenger

She had surgery on her Left Knee.  They gave her pain pills.  They told her nothing about the trauma response.  They said nothing about balance. Not physical balance. Not emotional balance. Not energetic balance.  They said nothing about The Soul.   No one told her that the knee was only one part of the whole.  That the body reorganizes itself around injury, pain and trauma – not just in the muscle and bone. They didn’t mention how the opposite side of the body would soon bear the burden.  Or, how the right side would twist, tighten and scream in protest because the left side was too fragile to carry the weight of “the world” anymore.

Two months later, she was still in excruciating pain.  Only now, it had shifted.  Her right side was screaming,  her sciatic nerve was pinched they told her. Her body was overloaded and her system was being numbed.  The OxyContin they prescribed?  It wasn’t working  anymore.

That’s when she sent me an SOS message asking me to step in; not with a prescription pad, but with my hands, my breath and my knowledge.  Her body, in its deep wisdom, began to speak.

When I worked on her, I did not even start with her knee or her hip.  I started with her nervous system.  I opened lymphatic pathways.  I drained stored trauma from her hips, feet and spine.  Her right leg – the one compensating for the left knee surgery eventually twitched and burned with heat.  Her left knee followed.  Then, her full body began to release.  She released physically, sighed, exhaled and then… she fell asleep.  She didn’t fall asleep from medication, but because she finally feeling safe.  Her body and the pain were finally being heard

I am walking her out of the loop day by day.  She is being given Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, room-temperature water to hydrate, Vitamin B complex to support post op opioid detox, nervous system release and support.  Her body is responding and detoxing and it remembers how to heal now.

The Western Medicine Trap

Western medicine excels at emergency care – surgeries, stabilizations, short-term trauma support.  It is deeply flawed when it comes to true healing.

Here is the typical model:

  • Isolate the pain
  • Replace the part
  • Numb the signal
  • Discharge the patient

No one stops to ask:

  • What emotional trauma is stored in that joint?
  • What is happening to the lymphatic system?
  • Has the nervous system collapsed into Freeze?
  • Is the soul even safe in the body anymore?

Instead, we see:

  • Medicated disconnection
  • Post Op swelling with no Lymphatic Drainage plan
  • Dependency on pills with no return to empowerment
  • Dismissed Intuition.

Western medicine too often assumes if the part is replaced, the person is healed.  The system fails to acknowledge that healing is not mechanical.  It is energetic, emotional and soul led.

What They Do Not Tell You About Pain Meds

She was given OxyContin for two months straight.  They did not talk to her about how trauma locks itself into our tissues and distorts the natural symmetry we are meant to move through life with. They gave her pills… not grounding or centering or balance.

Pain medications are meant to be temporary.  After 6, 8 or 12 weeks, they start doing more harm than good.

OxyContin is considered a semi-synthetic opiate.. more commonly classified using the term opioid. It is a prescription drug considered a Schedule II controlled substance by the Drug Enforcement Administration. OxyContin is the brand name for Oxycodone and has a high potential for abuse and addiction.

What they didn’t tell her was:

  • Opioids shut down the lymphatic movement and flow which create stagnant swelling, heaviness and long-term inflammation
  • They suppress the vagus nerve which creates emotional shutdown, poor digestion and depression
  • They cause the body to become more sensitive to pain which then creates a condition called Opioid-Induced Hyperalgesia OIH.  (We’ll talk more about this)
  • They suppress the body’s natural pain regulation, creating chemical dependence
  • They fracture the body-mind connection, leaving people foggy, agitated and helpless

Meanwhile no one is addressing:

  • Nervous system dysregulation
  • Somatic trauma
  • The grief that often follows surgery and chronic pain

The longer this goes on, the further away the person drifts from their own healing power. The medication that was meant to help is now hurting the person.  This is the part no one explains.  No one warned her or her husband that after weeks of use, her pain would increase; not decrease.  That the pills would stop working, yet her body would crave them harder. They gave her the pills because they thought the pain pills would help her.  The pills don’t fix anything anymore though.  They just prolong her nightmare..  Opioids don’t just kill pain – they shut down the body’s natural ability to regulate it.  When the body wakes back up, the emotions flood back in, the pain amplifies and everyone around the person assumes something is very wrong.  It isn’t that there is something wrong, they’re experiencing withdrawal. This is the body trying to feel normal again.

What is Opioid-Induced Hyperalgesia OIH &  Signs of  The Loop

Opioid Induced Hyperalgesia (OIH) is a condition where opioids, instead of relieving pain, begin to make the body more sensitive to pain.  OIH is a state nociceptive sensitization caused by exposure to opioids. The condition is characterized by a paradoxical response whereby a patient receiving opioids for the treatment of pain could actually become more sensitive to painful stimuli.

This means even normal sensations can feel painful and pain that already existed becomes amplified.  People trapped in this cycle do not know it is the medication that is making things worse.  They feel pain on a whole new level and they feel broken, but they are not broken; it’s The Loop.

What Is Happening In The Body?

As I stated earlier, over time, opioids:

  • Disrupt how the nervous system regulates pain
  • Sensitize pain receptors instead of calming them
  • Create a neurochemical dependency that wires the brain to need the drug to just feel “normal”

So, when the drug wears off…..

  • Pain spikes
  • Emotions destabilize
  • The body feels like it is falling apart, even though it is the chemical imbalance causing this reaction

Most people stuck in pain are not broken…. they are in a loop:

Pain>Medication>Numbing>Withdrawal>Increased Pain>More Medication>Shutdown>          Pain>Medication>Numbing>Withdrawal>Increased Pain>More Medication>Shutdown>      Pain>Medication>Numbing>Withdrawal>Increased Pain>More Medication>Shutdown

This loop doesn’t mean someone is weak or damaged.  It means the nervous system has lost it’s rhythm and the body has stopped trusting itself.

Common Signs of the Loop

  • Pain that worsens despite medication
  • Mood swings, emotional outbursts & disorientation
  • Restlessness, twitching body part(s) or full body agitation
  • Feelings of helplessness, fear or hypersensitivity
  • A desperate “need” for the next dose to “feel normal” again

This is not a weakness.  This is neurochemical dependency created by a system that doesn’t warn their patients this can happen to them.  It takes courage, education and real support to get out of OIH.

The Soul Way Approach

The Soul Way does not rush.  It doesn’t suppress symptoms or override pain.  It listens. It breathes. It holds space for the body’s story and truth to speak and rise and guide me on how to help.

This is the moment healing begins:

When the body says: “I don’t have to hold this anymore.”

No drug can do that …but presence can and permission can and trust in the body’s wisdom can.

A New Way Forward

I am not anti-Western medicine. I am anti-suppression. I believe in surgery when it is needed.  I also believe in sacred recovery; not just discharge papers.

Healing is:

  • Rhythmic
  • Spirals
  • Emotional
  • Physical
  • Energetic
  • Ancestral

The Soul Way holds all of that in a session.  You don’t have to numb yourself to survive.  You can reclaim your body, mind & spirit.  You can detox what doesn’t belong – chemically, physically, emotionally and energetically.  You can restore your body’s voice and hear what your soul has to say.

Not everyone understands lymph flow or frequency quantum healing and that is okay because…. I do!

You do not have to:

  • Feel dismissed by the system
  • Be told that your pain is normal
  • Numb yourself to survive
  • Or watch someone you love disappear into medication and confusion.

I want you to know there is another Way.  One that is rooted at the soul level… in safety and in truth. There is a solution that works with the soul.. The Soul Way.  Your body always remembers this way to heal.
